Starting a new blog...

I believe a new blog is born every 5.3 seconds. Here is another one. The origin is in a course on using Web 2.0 for learning and teaching, and over the next few weeks I hope this will take shape.

There is so much out there in terms of technology, but I am skeptical whether much of it can usefully be applied in enhancing learning and teaching in Higher Education. This is a voyage of discovery, and I have no clue where it will end up.

  1. I'm really pleased you see this as a voyage of discovery - that's exactly the spirit of openness that (imho) characterises Web 2.0

As for whether it might be usefully applied - let's see how the journey goes. Fair wind!

  2. I do try and keep an open mind, but I must admit I'm usually a bit cynical when it comes to applying new technology to teaching. Too often I have seen it be used just because it's new and exciting, and not really because it contributes anything useful to the whole process, apart from making the teacher appear more 'hip' and 'groovy'...

  3. It is all new and exciting, though! But, I agree that we just need to remember that light bulbs were invented to help us see better, not for the enjoyment of switching them on and off. With the exception of Homer. On. Off. On. Off. On. Off. On. Off.
